SPONSORED CLIMB

Our sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff & pupils of St Joseph's School, Castlebar, for their wonderful donation of 3,400 euro to Mayo Spca. They  undertook the brave task of a sponsored climb of Mount Kilimanjaro and raised an amazing amount of money, which they shared between different charities.   We were lucky enough to be one of those chosen and were completely bowled over by their kindness and generosity in considering us and the work we are trying to do.   A huge thank you to all concerned.   This money will go such a long way to helping all those animals in need during the winter months to come.   It will be put to very good use and help so many.   Our admiration goes to those who helped organise and took part in this venture.
DONATION

We had a wonderful surprise on Saturday 1st October when Rebecca visited kennelling with Mum, Nicola.   Rebecca recently celebrated her 8th birthday and saved all her birthday monies to give to Mayo Spca to help care for our rescued animals!   What an amazing thought for someone just 8 years old.   In all she handed over 150 euro - a truly magnificent sum from a child with a big heart.   Our sincere thanks for her kindness and generosity.    Rebecca was able to spend time with our pups/dogs, which she thoroughly enjoyed and named out latest little intake 'Sukie'.

THANK YOU!

Our sincere thanks for a wonderful donation of 15 bags of first class food from 'Best for my Dog'.

So much appreciated during the difficult time we are going through right now.  We never fail to be amazed by people's generosity!

THANK YOU!

Our sincere thanks to Swift Multistore/Newport Cycle Hire and 'Sound Affair' for their kind & most generous donation of a new washing machine!

It is really very much appreciated!

Our recently held Dog Show and Fun Day held at the TF Royal, Castlebar

Our recently held Dog Show and Fun Day held at the TF Royal, Castlebar, was a huge success!

Our sincere thanks to Mary Jennings and Rachel Gresham for giving us the opportunity to hold this event.  Not to mention all those that took the time to attend.    It was heartwarming to see so many beautiful dogs, loved and well cared for.    A wonderful job of judging was performed by Conal Finnerty and Emma Adamson!
Other photo's can be seen at www.con-telegraph.ie

Our sincere thanks to Pedigree Chum for their kind & generous donation.
It is so much appreciated and will assist us in helping many more animals during a very difficult year.

Flora Womens Mini-Marathon

Our sincere thanks to Sarah Keane and all those who sponsored her in the Flora Womens Mini-Marathon.   Sarah raised an amazing amount of just under 300 euro, which we will put to very good use.   Thanks a million Sarah.

 Mini Marathons

A very big thank you to all those fantastic people who took part in the different marathons to raise money for animals on behalf of MAYO SPCA.

A great BIG THANK YOU!!

Our sincere thanks and appreciation to Karen, Fiona, Maureen & Crystal for raising over 1,000 euro in sponsorships for the Ladies Mini-Marathon in Castlebar over the Bank Holiday weekend.   A terrific achievement and amount which will help us to help so many more animals.   THANK YOU SO MUCH!

In July 2010 the staff of Hibernia College, Westport raised the magnificent sum of 1,490 euro by completing the 18th annual Westaro Mini-Marathon in Balla.   The monies was equally divided between 9 charities and Mayo Spca was lucky enough to be one of them.   Our sincere thanks to all the staff concerned.   This money will help our animals so much and we appreciate all the efforts made by the staff to raise it.

FUNDRAISING IN MAYO

We have had many phone calls regarding people collecting in Mayo on behalf of PAWS (based in Tipperary).  Unfortunately people have been of the understanding that somehow they are connected with animal rescue here in Co. Mayo.   We would like to advise members of the public that  monies collected by PAWS is NOT shared with Mayo Spca.  It is our understanding that PAWS use professional collectors.

Our fund raising & flag days are manned entirely by volunteers who donate their time to help our rescued animals.  We would like to thank them  for their caring and generous attitude, without them we could not help so many animals in need.   All monies collected by them is used to pay veterinary fees for the abandoned, abused, neglected creatures in Co. Mayo.

Our members & volunteers are easily identifiable by their Bibs emboldened with MAYO SPCA and would always have a permit from the Gardai, sight of which can always be requested by anyone who has any doubts as to their authenticity.

Dublin City Marathon

Ali Mobasser, Claremorris, completed the Dublin City Marathon on 25th October, 2010 and raised €137 for Mayo SPCA - our sincere thanks for his kindness and support which is greatly appreciated.

A huge thank you to Claire Larby, her friends & parents for raising a £123.00 at a car boot sale for Mayo Spca in the UK.

Much needed funds which will be put to good use.   THANK YOU!

 ISPCA BORNEO CHALLENGE

Our thanks and congratulations to Karen Power who undertook the Borneo Challenge on behalf of the ispca and ourselves.   She's back, safe & sound thankfully.   Well done Karen!   It must have been pretty tough & we take our hats off to you.   Karen tells us that.....................
It was "definitely the experience of a lifetime & I would recommend it to anyone". It was a very busy 10 days as we spent the first 3 trekking through  the jungle, then we had 2 days for our summit climb, one days bus journey & 3.5 days in the Orang Utan Sanctuary.... We were asked to construct 20 metres of boardwalk for the Organutan Sanctuary & we got 50 metres done so they were well pleased with us.

QUACKERS - Ballyhaunis 6 June 2010

Jack & Lizzie won 1st prize at the Duck Race, Erik adopted two of Mayo Spca's rescued dogs and was fortunate enough to win 1st prize at the Duck Race recently held in Ballyhaunis.   Erik kindly returned the prize to be used again.   We thank him for his kindness and generosity.

A great big thank you to all volunteers and all those that supported our Duck race.

Thanks to Susan & Sylvana who got into the water with the ducks to urge them on.

On behalf of all our rescued animals - Thank You!!
Edinburgh Marathon

Our grateful thanks to Charlene Butler who ran in the Edinburgh Marathon in May to raise money for MAYO SPCA.

She raised €150. On behalf of all our rescued animals, a BIG thank you.

Sincere thanks & congratulations to Maureen Higgins and her Sister, Eileen Cleland for successfully completing the Flora Womens Mini-Marathon and raising over 684 euro for Mayo Spca's rescued animals.   Eileen travelled from the U.S.A. specially for the occasion.   Well Done to both.    Our animals appreciate your efforts and caring - a huge thank you from them and the Committee.

  DUBLIN MARATHON RESULT

Our sincere thanks to Claire McDowell of Barna, and everyone who supported her running the Dublin Marathon, she  raised €355.00 euro which she sent to help our animals.

We appreciate her efforts so much, especially at this time of the year when the level of animal cruelty and abandonment is so high.

Six months ago Claire very kindly adopted a spaniel x from Mayo SPCA, we named him Snoopy, he's now called Mickey and keeps her    on her toes!

DONATION RECEIVED
Our very sincere thanks to the Trustees of the Kennel Club Charitable Trust, who in conjuction with an advisor from Pedigree and the Association of Dogs & Cats homes kindly agreed to donate 3,000 euro to MAYO SPCA after reviewing just some of the work we had done.   We were all overjoyed to receive such a generous amount which will be used in the main to pay vetinerary expenses for our rescuees.   However, fundraising MUST continue if we are to get through this year.   The number of Cruelty cases handled has increased dramatically and the cost to treat them are very high.

Result from the mini-marathon!

We have received donations from the kind people who did the Dublin Min-Marathon for MAYO SPCA and wish to give our heart felt thanks and appreciation for their efforts and support for our poor abused animals.   Our very sincere thanks to the kind & most generous members of the public who made donations.

Our grateful thanks to Karen Power (who adopted Spencer the Spaniel from MAYO SPCA) for collecting the magnificent sum of 400.00 Euro & Maureen Higgins who raised another fanastic sum of 463.00 euro. Andrea Murray collected 93.00.  A great big thank you to all of you.

FUNDRAISING

Fund raising is ongoing through necessity and we hold various Flag Days, Church Gate collections, bag packing sessions and various other events throughout the year in order to raise monies to pay vets bills for the treatment of our rescuees (last year vets bills totalled 35,000 euro and we received 10,000 from the Department of Agriculture).
If you can help in any way please contact us. Do leave a message when phoning as it is not always possible to answer the phone. Your call will be returned.

VOLUNTEER

Would you like to help? We constantly require assistance as we have a huge workload. Our rescued animals deserve a good quality of life whilst in our care. Dogs need walking twice daily. Some need nursing and TLC (tender loving care). Others are afraid of humans and need a kind person to sit with them for a while to help restore their confidence. Kennels have to be cleaned daily and animals have to be fed. Trips to the Vet when necessary have to be made. Cats/kittens always need rescuing. Again, vet trips, feeding, cleaning of catteries, litter trays etc are all part of our daily chores. Some cats/kittens are also afraid and need human companionship to restore their confidence.

Our telephones are always busy and any help you could give with answering them is always appreciated.

If you can spare even one hour per week it would be a great help to us and would be very much appreciated.
