RILEY FOUND STRAYING IN THE KILKELLY AREA. JANUARY 2012
We have named this beautiful male Hound 'Riley'. Taken into care after straying in the Kilkelly area for 2 weeks, he is in good physical condition, very friendly, excellent on recall, good with other dogs. He is so stressed in kennels that we feel sure he is someones' pet and would appreciate a call from anyone that recognises him. We are most anxious to reunite him with his owner or find a new home as soon as possible.

KEELY-CRUELTY 31st January 2012 We named this poor dog KEELY, he's male and fully grown. Handed in for our care from Achill Island he was rushed straight to a vet. Keely could be described as a skeleton with fur, and weighs only 12 kg. Its a miracle he is still alive. He's the sweetest natured dog and it is so sad for all concerned to see any animal left to suffer in this condition. With careful feeding and care we hope to see him fit and well in the fullness of time. Our thanks to the kind people who called us instead of ignoring his plight. If you can help in any way by offering a permanent or temporary home please do call us. Please call 09496 31888 or 086 803 2592 email

FINN
Young Finn was abandoned with another pup we named Sam, thankfully Sam has now gone to a new home, which leaves Finn without his companion. He's approximately 16 weeks old, is a very lovable, affectionate and friendly pup, gentle and good natured. Not at all like the creature who first came into our care, dirty, starving, freezing cold and very afraid. If you can help then please call us. He's going to be such a handsome full dog when full grown. JANUARY, 2012 - ABANDONED

LENNY AND LEXI
JANUARY, 2012.
These 2 hounds were found in the Castlebar area by a member of the public. They are shocked by the terrible condition they are in. Every bone in their poor bodies is sticking out, they have skin conditions, pressure sores, their paws appear to have been burned by a substance and they also have bits of tar stuck to them. Obviously they are suffering from severe malnutrition and will need careful feeding. We are hoping its not too late! Both such gentle creatures as can be seen by the photo of them eating from the same bowl - although starving they will not fight over food! Currently being fostered by the person who found them (we are full) it would be appreciated if anyone could donate a cast-off dog coat, bag of sensitive food or any small donation to help towards the vets bills for them. December 2011 Lenny (brindle) and Lexi continue to improve but recuperation is slow for these 2 lovely gentle dogs. They would do so much better with one to one attention or if anyone could offer a permanent home please call if you can help. Lenny & Lexi have improved quite dramatically in our care, but still have to gain more weight. Their sores have healed, they are now happy, playing & running in the field. Lexi has now been spayed and both are fully vaccinated. Now happy, good natured dogs we urgently need to find homes for them.

JUDGE
Judge was rescued in very poor condition, suffering from malnutrition, skin problems and was very afraid. He is now made a great recovery and needs a home of his own, he's neutered, fully vaccinated, flea/worm treated and in good physical condition. Judge is a Saluki mix, approx 2 years old, very good with other female dogs (not cats), loves playing and a run, but otherwise is peaceful and quiet by nature, as are most of his breed - they make great 'couch potatoes'! Very affectionate, gentle and not now afraid but would be submissive and a little nervous in a very noisy household. He would make a great companion pet to a female dog, and ideally needs to be able to sleep indoors as this breed of dog has a very thin coat. An excellent choice for anyone suffering from allergies as they shed so little hair. Please call 09496 31888 or 086 803 2592 email

BIBI & MINI
 BIBI
MINI Bibi & Mini are both female and were abandoned together. They were both neglected and very afraid. They have been in foster care for some time now and benefited greatly from the individual attention, but although good natured, great with other dogs and off lead, they are still nervous and need a special home together, or Bibi (brown & white) would be an excellent companion to another dog. There's not a bad bone in their bodies and once they get to know someone they respond with affection. Mini (black/white) is a beautiful looking dog but the more nervous of the two and we would have to keep her long term should anyone out there be kind enough to offer a home to Mini. They are now in good health, have been spayed, flea/worm treated and are fully vaccinated. Medium in size they would not necessarily have to be dogs that lived indoors and would be happy in a warm, dry shed, with a secure surrounding area. UPDATE JANUARY, 2012. Bibi is now a much happier and confident dog. Mini still very shy, but once she gets to know someone is the sweetest and most affectionate dog.

SEAMUS October, 2011 This 2 year old male hound was found running in the middle of a main road in the Ballyhaunis area, he was wearing a collar & lead, but had string attached to the collar. We do not know if he's become lost or was abandoned. He is physically in poor condition, but friendly, very gentle, good on a lead and with other dogs, lovely temperament. He will be vet checked, neutered & vaccinated before being rehomed. Please call 09496 31888 or 086 803 2592 email

Bonding with your Pup: If you want to quickly bond with a new pup or rescue dog. Masticate a piece of white bread till it is a gooey then feed this as a tit bit to the pup/dog for the first 7 days. You only need to do this once a day; it mimics the regurgitation process when pups and cubs are being weaned in the wild, this really helps them bond more quickly and therefore settle in much sooner. http://www.doglistener.co.uk/tips/top_tips.shtml
We wish to advise cat owners that one pair of breeding cats unneutered/unspayed can theoretically produce 37,000 cats in a 7 year period! Breeding commences at 6 months of age. If your cat has a litter of kittens not only will female kittens from that litter reproduce at 6 months but the Mother cat will have yet another litter! We have discounted price vouchers available for neutering/spaying your cat and request that you be a responsible cat owner & prevent further litters from being born. Please do ring us for a voucher. All cats over 6 months rehomed from Mayo Spca are already neutered/spayed.We would like to remind people who keep outdoor or 'shed' cats to catch rats/mice, that a cat is unable to hunt unless it is well fed. They do not have the strength to hunt without good feeding and NO MILK! Cats cannot digest milk that has been produced for human consumption.
If you decide to adopt one of our Cats or Kittens, please know that there is an adoption fee of €30.
NINJA
Ninja is a fine, strong, healthy male pure black cat with gorgeous green eyes. He is neutered, flea/worm/tick treated and in excellent condition. Litter/house trained Ninja loves to spend his days out and about doing his own thing, but loves a warm soft spot for sleeping indoors at night. He's friendly and affectionate but should not be over petted. He needs a new home through no fault of his own and to be an 'only cat' would be ideal. He would be no trouble to care for at all. email

2 beautiful pure black cats, one male, one female, neutered/spayed/flea/worm treated & very friendly. Need not be rehomed together but it would be ideal if possible. They like to be indoors and are litter trained, but also love to spend time outside and would make lovely pets. Sweet natured. email
