COCO Coco was one of Honey's pups and adopted by Caitlin and Roy. They tell us she's a really great dog, highly intelligent, will 'sit' and 'give her paw'. 'roll over' and 'lie down'. She's a big part of the family and has a great home. Our thanks to Caitlin and Roy.
JESSIE SUCCESS
Jessie so happy in her new home with Mary and family. Found as a tiny abandoned kitten, she has settled in so well and is part of the family Mary tells us. Thanks Mary for giving her such a great home.
DUSTY SUCCESS
Hi all. I'm Pat and I adopted a Labrador mix called Dusty in September 2011. He's a great dog and has brightened up my life since he got here. He is so placid and such a pet. Loves his walks and has got me leading a more active lifestyle. He especially loves the beach. Can't believe somebody abandoned him but their loss is my gain. Just thought I'd update ye on his progress. He's great with other dogs as well and great with my daughter. Thanks for your help and for saving Dusty.
I got Ralph off you in October. He's loving his new home, has put on lots of weight and is getting very spoiled! He's not happy unless he is curled up in between us sleeping! He's having lots of adventures outside now too! Thank you for taking such good care of him when you had him, if you hadn't taken care of him we wouldn't have him!Keep up the good work!
From Lucy and Ralph :)
Best wishes to all at MSPCA for the new year. My apologies for not getting in touch with you sooner to let you know how Master Rocco is getting on. I've attached a couple of photos of his typical day. He has settled in well and is now part of the gang! He has also tried exercising his beagle tendencies with Mr. Fox!!!! but we are working on the recall and he is doing quite well. He loves his fire and his cuddles and is the most affectionate dog I've ever met. Once again thanks a million. Regards, Winifred
 Hi Ann
My name is Jessie I'm a Collie cross puppy. You may remember you rescued me my brothers and sisters and my Mum in the Mulranny woods last summer. Me and my dog family stayed for a short while with a lady called Lorna in Castlebar. I have been meaning to write to you for ages but life with my new family is very busy and I have been learning lots of new things. My new family brought me to live in Dublin and took me to a very nice vet at the DSPCA to get my injections. When I was about 12 weeks they took me to Puppy manners classes. These were great fun and I made lots of new human and doggy friends. I have been back to Mayo a few times and had lots of fun running on the lovely long beaches. My family are a bit crazy and went swimming in November! On 7th December we went to the nice vet and I had my spaying operation. I recovered very well although I had to wear a big blue ring on my neck for ten days! I got my stitches out on the 17th December and I was able to have a nice bath before Christmas so my coat was all soft and shiny. Santa brought me a lovely reindeer toy and some new balls to play with. I was also given a Santa suit which everyone said looked very cute on me! I am hoping to go to Mayo on New Year’s Day to spend some holiday time. I have to sign off now as it is time to curl up in my bed for the night but I just want to say a huge thank to you and all at the Mayo SPCA for rescuing me and giving me the chance to live with my new family (I think they are pretty pleased and grateful to you as well). I’m going to try to attach a picture of me in one of my favourite spots in front of the Aga!
With many many thanks,
Jessie PS My new family are called the Dexters
A CHRISTMAS STORY - Bob the Dog, A Happy Tale Dear Marion, My name is Barry Jones and we spoke briefly a couple of weeks back when I found a big Bull Mastiff on my front door step. Luckily, he was a big softie and turned out to be a new member of the family belonging to Des, a neighbour over the hill about a 10 minute walk away. The reason for this mail is to tell you of a success story concerning a dog named Bob. Back in 2000 I realised a dream to come to Ireland and renovate an old cottage and chill. This done I decided the place needed some life and what would be better than man’s best friend. In about 2003/4 I was spoke to a lady near Kiltimagh named Annie Kivlichan, she gave me a number of a lady from outside of Ballyhaunis who might be able to help. I rang and arranged to meet this mysterious blond of few words in a supermarket carpark (all very John le carre’), we then drove in convoy to her secret base outside of town to recover documents before resuming our journey to meet up with her co-conspirators, cleverly disguised as foster parents. This is when I first met the dog who was to become my friend “Bob”. I was told she was approx 10 months old and was running around the garden with another dog. Within minutes everyone vanished and we stood alone in the road with Bob looking up at me with a wary look in those big brown eyes, thinking ‘who’s this guy, what have I let myself in for’ The rest, as they say, is history. It took her a few months to settle down properly and I clearly remember the day she looked at me and thought ‘Yep, you’re the one’, (it’s all in the eyes). From that day on we have been inseparable. She has this big scar across her front right paw and to this day if you stroke this scar and make a fuss she milks it for all its worth. So here we are many years later, she’s nearly 9 now. She has never liked collars or leads so we don’t use them. Her favourite thing in life is to ride in the car with her head either out of the window or sitting in the front, nose pressed to the windscreen. If in the village she will walk close to my leg and not run about. Nobody taught her these things, I just ask and she does. When I go into the shop she lays down outside but where she can see inside and everyone comments of how good looking she is and how shiney her coat is. I have always put this down to happiness. Her coat will get silky smooth when she’s bliss’d out, the cat is the same. Both of them will lay on their back going ‘Go on, rub my belly’. Happiness also means no aggression or nervousness and when we go to the butchers where she knows Mr Duffy is gonna get her a big juicy bone from the fridge, she will happily lay down by the door even while big trucks noisily thunder through Kilkelly just a few feet away. In the summer it’s not uncommon to come out of the shop to find her covered in kids where she would stick her nose in their ears and send them off into fits of giggles. The best things in life are free. Lately the comments made seem to be that she’s a well fed dog. She eats now no more or less than she ever has and has never eaten junk, her only treats are roasted bones which she will take outside and spend an afternoon under a tree chewing away. Maybe we’re both a little fatter than we were years ago and she does now have the grey whiskers which I don’t. We just wanna grow old gracefully. We’re on a journey and the road changes, we have no destination, just enjoying the journey together. Kind Regards Barry Jones
Last week Little Ella made a mammoth journey from Mayo to Moray in Scotland to her new home. She arrived safe & sound, settled in well and has a new companion Belgian Shepherd. She will enjoy a large garden to play in, walks on the beach, a nice warm comfy bed indoors and lots of tlc from Audrey & John Morrison. Our thanks to them both for giving this lovely little dog a great home.
Ben was handed into mspca after a member of the public had cared for him for 2 weeks and was unable to find an owner or hold onto him any longer. He was destined for the pound. A beautiful dog who we found to be a Nova Scotian Duck Retrieving Toller. He is now happily residing in Surrey, UK with so much space around him to enjoy his exercise. Settled and well behaved he is a valued pet.
We adopted one of the Swinford puppies on the 3rd of Sept. Just to let you know that Roxy has settled in very well to her new home. She is very intelligent and very easy to train - She loves other dogs, going for walks out in the country. We are delighted we got her and kids have her spoiled. She has just started to dig holes in the garden!! Attached are a few pics of her as a puppy and as she is now. Kind regards, Nooreen Smith.
Rosie, now renamed Phoebe, was recently adopted by Liz Green in the UK. Liz tells us she is the most delightful dog and has settled in immediately with Liz's other two rescuees. Thanks Liz for giving her such a loving home and for all your help down at our small kennelling facility in October. Rusty so happy in his new home thanks to the Rowley family. We adopted a lovely little puppy we named Rusty at the end of July. He is a very playful and energetic dog, who loves playing ball so it wasn’t easy to get him to sit still for photos. He loves relaxing on the garden seat and in particular getting his belly rubbed. He has a beautiful soft coat to caress and very loveable personality which has brought joy to the whole family. With gratitude for helping us find such a lovely dog, The Rowley Family
Little Paddy was recently adopted by Fidelma and family, who tell us he has settled in so well, is playful & happy and it just seems as if he has always been with them. Thanks Fidelma for giving him such a loving home.
Missy was recently adopted by Dolores and her family and she tells us she has settled in very nicely indeed. The children are overjoyed with her and they could not imagine their home without her. She's had a lot of pampering and a great 'shampoo & set' and loves her 3 mile walk every day. Thanks Dolores for giving her a great home.
Pandora & Felix were recently adopted by Jane and have settled in so well! They are entertaining and happy and she tells us she is so pleased with them. Thanks Jane for giving them such a good home.
hi marion, just a short note to say thank you and to assure you that jenny will have a really loving home and as i said i think she will fit in quickly as you will see in the photos !!! once again thanking you and for the admirable job you do, regards, john kelleher
Minnie in her new home in the Netherlands.
From Eileen and Frans Cramer. We are the happy owners of Minnie who has been with us for just over a year now. Minnie is doing very well and is a happy and contented dog. She is very lively and needs plenty of exercise which is good for us as well. Minnie has such a sweet affectionate nature.
Cleo & Lily were recently adopted by Rose who tells us they have not only settled in so well but get on great with her dogs too. Thanks Rose for giving them a caring home.
Myself and Leah took Mouse home a few months ago. I said I'd mail you an update on him - sorry for delay. I've attached a few photo's. Anyway, these are of him in a typical sitting pose, looking down his long nose, playing football and chilling in my favorite chair. He's getting on great and is loved by all who meet him. Popular consensus renamed him Banjo and he responds well. He's good around the house and hasn't caused too much damage in the garden. Yet to get into the sea but loves a run on the beach. Funnily enough, you might remember that we couldn't get him into the car, now I can't get him out. He's first in and refuses to get out unless we've gone for a decent spin. He got his booster shots at the vets and eats well, is a good sleeper too, but is always ready for a walk or a chase around. Loves meeting other dogs and is very trustworthy around all the kids in the greater family.
So, I love him. Had intended to get him a little buddy, but I haven't had the time yet and he seems grand on his own. He has two friends living a few doors away whom he sees regularly. I'll drop in again with something small to help out, but in the meantime, thanks very much for taking Mouse and all those others in and minding them so well.
Paul, Leah & Banjo.
Just a quick update on our spoilt little man Norris. He's doing great! Himself and muttley are inseparable! If he isn't beside her he is on top of her! Thank you so much. Sarah.
October, 2011. Ciara sent us this lovely photo of Elgar (ginger) a rescued kitten she rehomed from us months ago. She tells us that he and Pish-Wish are just devoted to each other and inseparable. He's just adorable and a pleasure to have. Thanks Ciara for giving him such a loving home.
Liz in UK has adopted 3 of our dogs and calls them the 'irish maidens' much loved and admired by everyone, she is so proud of them. So are we! They are a great advert for rescued Irish dogs! Thanks Liz for giving them such a loving home and all the support given to Mayo Spca by yourself and friends.
George, Cola and Coco were lucky enough to be adopted by Patricia and family and seem to be settling in very nicely. Thank you Patricia.
Brid travelled all the way from Galway to give a home to one of the Husky/Labrador X pups who we were so desperate to move from their current situation. She named him Oiseen and tells us he's settling in really well and is getting along with her other dogs, obvious to see he loves the couch!! Thank you so much Brid for giving him such a loving home and getting him away to a safe place. He's a lucky pup!
Dear Marion and all at MSPCA We adopted this little labrador-cross about mid August so he's almost a month at home with us. Although we did not know which dog we wanted when we went to you it was clear this little fella wanted us because we were not 5 mins in the kennel with him and he had the lacers chewed from Robert's shoes! He loves playing with his toys in the garden and being curled up on his blanket inside; but his favourite place of all, is rolled up on the couch on Robert's lap-such comfort! I love bringing him for his walks around the neighbourhood to show him off but he does seem to have a bit of an issue with the horses and other animals down the road!!! He still chews the furniture if he gets a chance but shows some manners and sits for me for a treat. Thank you so much for looking after him for the first few weeks, he's four months old now and hopefully will be with us for many years more.
Robert, Mairéad and 'Morgan'
Jess was recently rehomed by Bernadette and her lovely family in Dublin. After being abandoned with her pups in woods at Mulranny she is now so happy, much loved and finally enjoying life. It lifted our spirits to see a dog who had been in such poor circumstances and condition looking so confident, healthy and obviously a little spoiled. Thank you so much Bernadette for giving her the chance she needed to show she was not a bad dog at all!
Coco was recently adopted by Carol and family, who tell us he has settled in so well and is much loved. He certainly looks comfy in this photo! UPDATED PHOTOS OF COCO - 08/09/2011 Coco was kindly adopted by Carol and family earlier this year. Now 6 months old he weighs 20 kgs, but is a gentle, loving dog with a kind nature, who has made great friends with the two donkeys in a neighbouring field. A great photo and our thanks to Carol for giving Coco the chance of a forever home.
Annie & Mick from Achill kindly adopted this little female Yorkie in August, 2011. Thrown out of a car and traumatised so badly, she's now safely installed and so happy in her new home. Our thanks to Annie & Mick for taking her in and giving her the time she so desperately needed. Libby so happy in her new home in Scotland. Our thanks to the Henderson family for giving her a loving home.
Hi Annie and Marion, Thank you both so much for allowing us the privilege of giving this beautiful sweet lovable boy a home. We had him groomed the next morning and he is the cutest looking boy ever! He will have his full coat by Christmas according to the Groomer. Even she could have taken him home with her. She loved him.He has just fitted in so well and it is as if he belonged to us forever!! He found the soft chair straight away!!! We enjoy his personality and we are getting to know him really quickly!! He and I have had two wrestling matches over a chicken!! He heard me getting lunch ready for Roy and as I prepared it he suddenly arrives up beside me on the bench and attacks the bread and butter, then the chicken!!!!! I just could not fight him off!! He has the strength of two men!! I had to race to the Utility room with the chicken and all the stuff in my arms with Rory meowing like he was being tortured!! I managed to get the door closed behind me. I could hear knocking on the door and when I opened it there he was sitting looking up at me!!! This has happened since because I forget he is going to arrive !! He then goes and has his dried food as if to say..........well that didn't go too well!! We have had so many laughs with him and there is not a chance he is leaving us! We adore him and Rua,our little red girl is slowly getting to know him, still a little cautious but he is the perfect gentleman. Thank you both so much again for Rory. He was meant to be ours for sure. We will keep you updated. The work you all do for these poor unfortunate pets is magnificent.Your dedication is second to none. They are so gentle and calm when they reach their new homes which is down to the way you handle them.If they could talk they would thank you from the bottom of their hearts. However they can't so I am thanking you from Rory!! These pics were taken today. We are so Blessed to have two beautiful animals in our care. Kindest Regards, Mary & Roy
Early in 2011 5 very young kittens were abandoned in a cardboard box in the park opposite Londis, Ballyhaunis. Far too young to be separated from their Mum. Unfortunately one did not survive and the remaining four were hand reared by one of our volunteers. This is Pip and Pop so happy in their new home with Fran Kelly and family. Much loved and enjoying a great life. Thanks Fran for keeping such a watchful eye on them during the early days and giving them such a happy home.
Jed was recently rehomed after taking quite some time to rehabilitate from the trauma he had endured. He's so happy now with Rebecca & Ann, has settled in really well and is a much loved part of their family. Our thanks to all the work put in by Jim and Carol and of course to Rebecca and Ann for giving him such a loving home.
Sile was adopted by the Kelly's from Westport in April 2011. We decided to change her name to Sheba and she took to her new name very quickly. She has settled into our family so well and we could not imagine our lives without her now. She loves her daily walks, her garden and her trips to the beach. She just loves to play fetch with a stick and swim !!!!
Sheba has a wonderful temperament. She is very well behaved and obedient and just full of love. She came to us that way and we are very lucky to have her. She loves loads of company and has a welcome for everyone in our large family. Grandpa Jim is the leader of the pack and Sheba's best pal.
We would like to thank Lorna and all the staff and volunteers of Mayo SPCA for the selfless jobs you do.
Best wishes from
Jim, Sheba and all the Kelly family.
We adopted Abby mid April she was from the litter of Collie x Springer Spaniel pups that you had, when we went to you we had no idea which one of your dogs we were going to take home, when we got there the pups were out in the garden, and the decision was made that it would be on of them that we were taking. I went in and sat in the middle of the garden, all the pups came and investigated but Abby kept coming back for more hugs and so you could say that Abby actually chose me. She has settled in really well and loves spending loads of time with her dad as mum is out working Mon to Fri, and she goes walking with mum most days. We attended the walk in Balla in May and she got to see two of her brothers who were still in the SPCA shelter but have since being homed which we were delighted to hear. She has attended Puppy training classes and passed she received, her rosette and picture is attached (Pink and blue one). We attended Claremorris Agri Show on Sunday 31st July and were just along for the fun of the day but on the spur of the moment we decided to enter Abby in the Dog Show under the category "Dog I would most like to take home" And she won second Place to our delight. We couldn't be happier with our decision and Abby is really settled and spoiled rotten - any time I am away, even for a few hours I bring her something back - A right little princess!! Thank you to all at Mayo SPCA for all your work and dedication to all the animals in your care. Ann-Marie Moore
Mitzy was the sweetest dog rescued in an appalling condition. Adopted by Paula and family she is a delight to them and a real character. When they open the rabbits cage for them to come out, Mitzy jumps in! Now a much loved little pet she has a lovely life. Our thanks to Paula and her family.
Just thought i would give you an update on lucky . We have now changed her name to lucy or lubey as the kids call her and she is fitting in well. We have discovered that she does not like to be left alone or put in the dog kennels if we go into town or something so she always sleeps under our bed and on alot of occasions in it, she is very gentle round the kids and everyone we meet can't believe how beautiful she is. She comes away with us in the caravan and we discovered she loves the beach and forest parks. She is very protective and will bark when a stranger comes into the house also she gets on great with our other two dogs. Anyway we could not imagine life without her and love her to bits and just wanted to let you know that she is happy and healthy. I have included a few photos for you. Thanks from Debbie& Chris and Little the Kids Bubble & Squeak were recently adopted by Jane and renamed Maud & Maisie! She tells us they have settled in so well, are happy & she has so much fun watching them play together. Thanks Jane for giving them such a lovely home, a great ending to a sad story. They are both glowing with good health now and not in the sorry state they were when initially brought into care.
Some time ago Dennis and Lil kindly adopted Kali. They absolutely adore her and the feeling is so obviously mutual! She's so very happy with them, is in great health and finally enjoying life after a very miserable first year. Thanks Dennis & Lil.
Hi Marion & all at Mayospca, Thought you might like to see how Zak is doing He has settled well & really loves his games & walks, still has a slight problem with a lead but getting better every day. He & Millie are best friend's He's also pleased to see his friend Vixon has a lovely home xx
Kevin & Caroline adopted Pepper in December, 2010, after the tragic loss of their own puppy with a brain disorder. They are delighted with her and at a loss to understand why anybody would throw away such a beautiful dog. She loves travelling in the car, going for walks and is nothing but a pleasure to have - thanks to them both for giving Pepper such a lovely home.
Mary and her family adopted one of our spaniel x pups a short time ago. They named her Milly and tell us she has settled in so well, is into everything and that she never ceases to amuse them. Thank you Mary for giving Milly a caring home.
On Saturday 9th July we took our recently rescued 'Vixen' to a dog show in Castlebar, not only was she brilliant on the lead and with all the dogs & people she met, but won first prize in her category! Vixen is brilliant with the children and settled in straight away with our family. Thank you so much for letting us give her a home. David & Helen Gannon Recently little Ted, a rescued kitten, was kindly adopted by Linda & her Husband to join their family of pets ( quite a few of them previously adopted from mspca) & this is what she had to say............poor doggies! Thanks Linda for giving yet another of our rescuees a loving home.
Well, Ted - now Smirnoff aka Smurf is... adorable. He's such a character! He swaggers around, he knows all the best places to sit, sleep, and play. It's as if he's been here before!Pippa (my wee dog) initially was delighted at having a new baby, but unlike Tink & Vlad this one doesn't sit quietly to be mothered, he duffs her up and tries to suckle from her. I'm having to keep quite an eye on him over this, as he tries it with Maddy also, who isn't too confident around cats at the best of times, and he even tries to suckle from poor old Sam, who doesn't have the necessary equipment!
Tara was one of our kittens rescued after being abandoned in a cardboard box opposite Londis in Ballyhaunis, unfortunately one of the litter did not make it but Tara was kindly adopted by Katie who tells us she has settled in very well and is lively and happy. Thank you Katie for getting Tara through a tough time.
Lulu so happy in her new home, much loved and settled in immediately, everybody loves her and she does not appear to be missing Wookie at all! Our thanks to Patricia and family for being so understanding and caring.
Thank you to Mayo SPCA and Marion for giving us the opportunity to own such a wonderful dog. We adopted her 3 years ago and she has proven to be the softest dog we have ever owned, which just goes to show that with the right owner this breed of dog can be a great friend and companion.
Our collie Malin was adopted from the Mayo SPCA. That was in 2007.He was found dumped on the rocks in malin head, but Mayo spca took him in and saved him. We found out later that he was probably dumped because he is suffering from the genetical collie disease that affects the Retina.Today, malin is completely blind. That doesn't stop him however running about on the beach when he knows full well he can't bump into things.Well done guys.
Many of you would have seen Tara looking for a new home on our rehoming section for quite some time. Finally she was kindly adopted by Geoff and his family and the following is what he has to say about her and hounds in general. Maybe it would encourage someone to give another hound the chance of a caring home as they are really not just for racing around a track at all and such gentle souls who are so mistreated. Our sincere thanks to Geoff and his family for giving Tara such a caring forever home. Tara’s doing really well. Her coat has become lustrous and she is brimming with good health. She’s a lovely dog to have around. Usually quiet (unless she’s hungry!), attentive, gentle and kind. We love having her here, as do Stanley and Orla. And if it came to it, we would be very upset to pass her on to someone else. Even the local farmer is happy for her to stay, and he went pale when he first saw her. He’s very paranoid about dogs and his sheep, but we’ve had no problems at all in nearly six years. I can’t believe that people won’t take hounds. For me they’re the perfect dogs. They don’t need constant entertainment (unlike collies), they are far healthier than pedigree dogs, and are clean – usually. Taking them for a run is a real pleasure and if they have a run or two a day they are happy to spend the rest of the time snoozing or casually mooching. OK you can’t teach them tricks, but no other dog can match the beauty or speed of a hound running flat out. Geoff & Sue
Spot was recently adopted by John & family from Dublin. They travelled a long way to collect him and are delighted, apparently Spot loves everybody, including the family terrier, and everybody loves Spot. A happy ending for an unwanted pup! Many thanks John for giving him such a caring home. Oliver (now Mr Snuggles) was recently given a home by Irene. He's settled in very well - as can clearly be seen, and is a lucky cat to have such a caring home. Many thanks Irene!
Dave was recently adopted by Sarah and her family who tells us that he has settled in so well and lifted the whole atmosphere in the house, gets along fine with their older dog and they are delighted with him. A happy forever home for little Dave. Thanks Sarah for giving him such a loving home. Alfie was recently adopted by the Connolly family who tell us they love and spoil him. He adores playing football and is such an affectionate dog. They are really enjoying him as a pet.
Rula was recently adopted by Victoria and her family, which consist of 2 other dogs and an adorable kitten. Rula has settled in so well and is getting along great with everyone, even the kitten! They are delighted with her. Many thanks Victoria for giving her a loving home which she so deserved.
At the end of February you brought me a little calico kitten to Castlebar Breaffy Clinic, . I have called her BamBam and she is the most loving and caring little thing. She makes the perfect friend for Jamina, my other kitten. Initially there were fighting a lot. Jamina was very jealous. But now, as you can see, they become great friends. BamBam takes care of little Jamina and teaches her, how to behave. As I have found Jamina abandoned in a Garage, when she was five weeks old, she was not socialised. BamBam makes an excellent teacher. I just wanted to let you know, that we are all very happy now. BamBam has found a cosy loving home and Jamina and myself a best friend.
We would like to thank you again. We wish you all the best for your important work. BamBam, Jamina and Marlis Just to let you know Grace is doing fine. You only need to hold the lead with your little finger when out for a walk. She is getting on great with our other dogs and our whippet puppy is mad about her. As you can see from the pics she has all her creature comforts! Will keep you updated, thanks for trusting us with her care.
Julie
Libby recently underwent a long journey to Scotland to her new home with Ann & Bill, also as a companion to Cooper, a young collie. They are delighted with Libby, she's settled well and they tell us she will have a loving forever home with them. Thanks for trusting our word that Libby was 'as written on the tin' and for giving her a loving home. We really wanted to get a Greyhound and did a lot of research online before getting Darra to make sure that he would fit in with our lifestyle. Greyhounds are fantastic pets - they love going for walks (and they're famous for their running) but they don't need as much exercise as you would first think. We've had Darra for nearly 2 months now and he has settled in really well with us. He's very timid and particularly nervous around women and other dogs, but we've encouraged him to meet both on various walks and he's gaining in confidence each day and has some doggy friends that he is happy to play with. He's very distinctive looking and people love to come and meet him when we are out. At home he spends a lot of time in his favourite position which is upside down! We've taught him several tricks as well and he's very intelligent. He's also a very quiet dog and loves to run around the garden (or if we're visitng the coast, on the beach) and really enjoys travelling in the car. If we are both working Darra will come into our office with us which is great beacuse we can spend time with him (when he's not upside down) and take him for a walk around the local lake, where we meet a number of dogs each day. At the weekends we try and find some new and different walks around forest parks or beaches and we've done a couple of long walks (7km) in to town on the bog roads or out to nearby villages to see friends. He's an incredibly loyal dog and loves to have a fuss made over him - after our first week with him, we wondered how we ever lived without him! Best wishes James and Heather
My name is Tanith and on the 24th of October 2010 i adopted a very frightened and shy little black and white kitten named fluffy as i recall , when i first brought him home he was very nervous, shy, timid and enjoyed quiet places especially under my bed where he had his bed and food bowl, but after only a few weeks he got more and more confident but still never seemed to want to play or rough and tumble like most kittens but hurray after a few months he started to play and chase things and learnt how to be a happy care free kitten!
Now named Teddy (nicknames- Tiddles, Teds and Teddington) due to his cuddly nature and beautiful fluffy coat is now a whole new cat he has a very laid back attitude and is quite a little character, he loves watching the birds from the window, sleeping on his back (allot) hanging around the kitchen floor for scraps and fuss and mackerel fillets at dinner time.
He also loves anything to do with water and the bathroom especially the shower when the toilet flushes and each morning joins me while i brush my teeth (sitting on the sink of course) Teddy has also struck up a great friendship with our two dogs- Bugzy and Raja and follows them all over the house.
Thank you so much Mayo SPCA for my wonderful pet who brings me joy everyday and for doing what you do. A very happy pet owner, Tanith Mcgrath
After a 24 hour journey Bella arrived safe and sound at her new home with Liz in Kent, where she joined Willow, also a mayo spca rescued dog. Liz tells us her tail has never stopped wagging and that she could not have wished for a better dog. Thanks Liz for giving her a wonderful forever home.
28.2.2011
Tommy & Sarah adopted young Jake last week and tell us he is already toilet trained, is so mannerly for such a young dog, has learned to sit, lie down & give his paw on command & they absolutely love him. Our thanks to them for giving young Jake such a caring home.
Just a few updated pic's of Miss Queenie. Its hard to believe she's been with me since end of July 2010. As you can see she is doing great. Loves her comfort :) Great girl for walks too. Best decision I ever made was to get her. I'd be lost without her now. The whole family have her ruined but she is a great girl and deserves a bit of spoiling every now and then.

Muireann Leonard: This is Kara, relaxing in her new home. She loves going for walks, trips in the car and her doggie biscuits. We're delighted to be able to give her a new home!
This is Majella Feehan the girl who adopted Moya from you in August. Sorry I haven’t emailed you sooner to tell you how Moya is doing but we’ve been having too much fun! Moya settled in almost immediately with us – she did a lot of sleeping for the first few days and I thought she was going to sleep her life away! But she came out of her shell soon after that. She is a wonderful dog - so loving and friendly, all the neighbours love her. She’s putting on weight but very slowly even though she has a great appetite! And she loves guarding our cats – that keeps her occupied for a lot of the day! My dad divided the back garden so she has one part and the cats have the other and she can look in at them but not touch them. She can’t be out in the front garden on her own anymore because she can jump the walls! For a small dog she can do amazing things. So we’re having a great time together and she really has helped over the worst of the loss of my dog Sam. Thanks for everything. I’ve attached some pictures of Moya with Mom.
